The easiest way of getting to Lefkas is to fly direct to Preveza (Aktio) airport. Lefkas' local airport is located on the mainland just 15 minutes drive from the causeway that gives on to the island. The airport is served by charter flights from Gatwick and Manchester from early May to mid October.

Other travel options include:
1. Flying into Athens. From Athens you can take an internal flight to Preveza with Olympic Airways or organize your onward travel by road. Athens to Lefkas will take around 5 hours by car and longer by bus.
2. Flying into Corfu. From Corfu catch the ferry to Igoumenitsa (1½ hours) and continue to Lefkas by road (2½ hours). Once you have factored in the wait at the ferry port, the total travel time by boat and by road from Corfu it is not dissimilar to the travel time from Athens.
3. Flying into Kefalonia. Travel by road from the Airport at Argostoli to the Seaport at Fiskardo and then catch the ferry over to Lefkas.
Hints and Tips
Always fly direct if you can as you'll undoubtedly save yourself a whole lot of time and trouble. And even if the direct flight looks expensive compared with the alternatives, once you've tallied up the cost of the various stages of your journey you might find there's not much in it.
If you're planning on taking a taxi from Athens it's a good idea to opt for a company local to Lefkas, rather than picking one up from the airport. The driver will know the way and you can organise a fixed rate.
The domestic flight connections between Athens and Preveza are not very good, which more often than not means spending the night in Athens.
The ferries between Corfu and Igoumenitsa run late in to the evening and are good to connect with the late easyjet flights.
The ferries between Kefalonia and Lefkas (Nidri and Vassiliki) are not very frequent and can be cancelled in high winds so invariably you end up spending the night on Kefalonia. If flying from Kefalonia and the weather is looking poor you should travel over the night before.
